Robert F Mikulas, President/Founder
Bob Mikulas, President of The National Lawn and Garden Show, has been in the lawn and garden industry since the 80’s and started NLGS out of frustration with the booth-style shows he had attended. A Bio-Chem Major, his environmental inspection career led him to pursue and obtain a Masters in Public Admin. Despite his community presence and passion for fostering local relationships, he and his wife continued to pursue national business ventures.
Bob began in the Lawn and Garden Industry as a manufacturer of lawn & garden products and attended over 20 booth style shows per year. With discouraging results due to the uncertainty of who would attend and who would stop at his booth he knew there had to be a better way. In 1995 he sold his manufacturing company and founded The National Lawn and Garden Show which created a solution to put buyers and sellers together in guaranteed, preset, scheduled appointments based on mutual product categories of interest between the two parties. This format proved beneficial for both buyers and vendors as face-to-face business meetings proved to be more productive than typical booth style shows. As the event developed so did the relationships created and the productivity for all the attending parties. Incremental improvements to the structure and operations of the event have developed over the years with technical aspects streamlining the event and yet maintaining the personal relationships with the customer base. Continuous improvements have placed it as an important networking event for the industry.
Bob enjoys auctions, motocross, boating, travel, and family time at the cabin. He also volunteers at the Royal Family Kids Camp, a camp for foster children and Mission trips to Honduras.
An outgoing and driven personality, Rose is a crucial part of the NLGS team. With strong values of customer service and satisfaction, her approach within the company keeps the customer first while relentlessly seeking new opportunity. Rose joined NLGS after moving to Colorado with 13 years of proven success selling timeshares and vacation properties on the beautiful shores of Hawaii. She has multiple sales awards in outstanding sales performance and customer satisfaction. Rose makes a mean chicken noodle soup and enjoys snow skiing in the Colorado Rockies with her husband and 16 year old son.
Alex is the man behind data reporting and outcome measurement at NLGS. Having seen NLGS start, grow, and change, he has critical historical insight that helps NLGS continue to advance as a leader in efficient marketing events. Aside from a good conversation over a local craft brew, Alex mostly enjoys spending time with his wife and building relationships with his neighbors and community.
